View of a natural rocky passage, La Roche du Diable, in the High Vosges near Gérardmer, with a horse hitched to a cart and two people on the path. The reverse bears a handwritten letter dated August 20, 1905, addressed to Mr. Élie Krais in Soulange (Maine-et-Loire), with a red 20-centime stamp and two cancellations from Luneville (Meuse).
