Postcard showing the statue of the Virgin of the Ballon d'Alsace (1256m), erected in 1860 by Joseph Grisvard, farmer at the Ballon from 1849 to 1873. The reverse bears handwritten correspondence dated May 17, 1917 from Pierre to Ed. Bonnet in Appaigny, Yonne, mentioning the statue and a border marker.
