Description

View of the Palais Rihour and the Monument aux Morts in Lille, erected in 1916 to commemorate soldiers and civilians who died during the war. The monument bears the inscription 'LA CITÉ A ÉLEVÉ CE MONUMENT AFIN DE RAPPELER AUX COEURS DES SIÈCLES L'HEROÏSME ET LES SOVEREIGNES DE SES ENFANTS MORTS POUR LA PAIX'. On the reverse, a 15-centime postage stamp of the French Republic, postmark of Lille-Gare dated 20 November 1930, and handwritten address to M. Schardner in Paris.
