Portrait of Madame Récamier, born in Lyon in 1777, wife of Monsieur Récamier, a banker, and creator of a salon in Paris during the Consulate. Exiled by the Emperor, she became friends with Madame de Staël and retired to Lyon, later living in Paris at the Abbaye au Bois before dying of cholera in 1849. Reverse: blank postcard with a warning text about foreign correspondence.
