Description

Perspective view of the aqueduct of Maintenon, a work begun by Louis XIV intended to bring the waters of the Évre to Versailles, of which only the first row of 47 arches was built. The reverse bears a handwritten letter sent from Maintenon, with a handwritten address on the right and a note at the top: 'All foreign countries do not accept correspondence on the front (Check with the Post Office).'
