Description

Engraved portrait of Marguerite of Burgundy, born in 1290, daughter of Robert II, Duke of Burgundy, wife of Louis le Hutin (future Louis X of France). Printed text relates her marriage in 1305, her imprisonment in 1314 with her sister-in-law Blanche de La Marche, and the death of both women by strangulation ordered by her husband in 1315. Reverse: printed address of the publisher 'C° des Arts Photomécaniques - Strasbourg' and partially visible postmark.
