Description

View of Fort St-Nicolas in Marseille, built between 1660 and 1664 by order of Louis XIV to contain the warlike spirit of the Marseillais. In the foreground, workers carry buckets near a quay with carts and horses. The reverse has a handwritten address to M. François Miquel in Bizezet (Aude), a green 5-centime stamp, and a postmark from Marseille dated July 21, 1913.
