Black and white view of the ruins of the presbytery of Melrose Abbey, showing Gothic arches and stone columns. Printed text at the bottom: 'M. 6. MELROSE ABBEY. N. SIDE OF PRESBYTERY.' On the back, a handwritten inscription describes the photo as a good representation of the northern side of the presbytery, where there was once an island. The publisher is the Ancient Monuments Dept. (H.M. Office of Works).
