Portrait of a soldier in khaki uniform with a képi and epaulettes decorated with the number 4, drawn in watercolor by Jean D'Iroit in 1915. The back features a handwritten letter dated July 1915, addressed to a 'dear one,' mentioning a granddaughter, a 'gendarme,' and an imminent return of the 'father'.
