Illustration of the Battle of la Plâtrière during the Battle of Champigny (30 November–2 December 1870), showing soldiers in action with cannons and horses in a winter landscape. Printed text summarizes the battle: the French, commanded by General Ducrot, repel the Germans, then are repelled to Epinay, with 10,000 prisoners and 2,000 killed, including Generals Renault and Lébruit de la Chérie. Reverse: warning text on international correspondence, partial handwritten address 'M.', and postmark not visible.
