Description

View of the destruction of the bridge over the Oise at Compiègne in 1914, with remnants of the deck and a pile of debris along the water's edge. The reverse features a handwritten letter dated May 78, 1915, sent from Compiègne, where the sender informs his wife about the bridge's condition and the war, noting that the Germans are prevented from crossing. The stamp and cancellation are visible.
