Description

Two officers in military uniform, one with a képi and the other with a gilded képi, stand in the foreground during a ceremony where one presents a medal to the other. Behind them, a long line of soldiers in summer uniform, with bayoneted rifles, is lined up in formation. On the reverse, a handwritten letter in cursive French, addressed to 'Melly Corteyra' in Paris, mentions 'Versailles' and 'petite Joannette'.
