Description

View of the Fort de Douaumont in Verdun, with its structures carved into the rock and a road below. The reverse indicates that this fort, the most powerful in Verdun, fell into German hands on February 25, 1916, and was recaptured by the French on October 24, 1916, with a mention in German and English. A 'VERDUN' stamp is affixed.
