Description

Postcard showing the house of Benoît in Benon, severely damaged after the invasion, with visible bullet holes. Two portraits frame the image: a woman identified as 'La Vétillante' and a man, M. Benoît, decorated with the Legion of Honour. The text indicates that the cross on the façade marks the spot where the house was deliberately set on fire by the Bavarians on 12 August. The reverse features handwritten correspondence dated 2-6-14, addressed to M. Pierre Rabier in Bougival, with a postage stamp and a Nancy cancellation.
