Color illustration of a young boy armed with a rifle killing a German officer, while another French soldier lies wounded at his feet. Printed text at the bottom: 'The young Emile Desprès, ordered to kill a wounded Frenchman to whom he had just given to drink, took up the rifle and killed the German officer who had given him this order.' Reverse: handwritten correspondence to Mlle Tronie Giraudan in Monfaucon-d'Argonne, with a 5-centime French postage stamp and cancellation 'PARIS 21-6-1914'.
