Soldiers in camp uniform in a forest bivouac around a fire, where one of them is preparing coffee. Printed text at the top: '1563 The Valdahon — At the Bivouac — The Café'. Reverse: handwritten address to Jean Piallet in Marseille, postmark from the Valdahon (Doubs) town hall dated July 28, 1914, and note 'Camp of Valdahon (Doubs)' at the bottom.
