Interior of a monastic cell with white walls, wooden ceiling, and three decorative inscriptions on the walls. In the foreground, a wood-burning stove covered with a metal plate. The reverse indicates the publisher 'Edition of Historical Monuments, Au Grand Palais, Paris VIII' and a handwritten address to Madame Mme. Colalot in Marseille. 20-centime postage stamp and postmark from 'Chartreuse des Alpes'.
