Description

Postcard showing the commemorative monument of the Paionnettes Trench, designed by architect A. Ventre, with a main view and a circular insert detailing the interior of the trench. The reverse indicates that the monument, inaugurated on December 8, 1920, is dedicated to French soldiers who died in this trench, thanks to the generosity of C. F. Rand, a citizen of the United States, and mentions the Douaumont Ossuary. Obliterated stamp 'OSSUAIRE de DOUAUMONT (Meuse)' visible.
