Description

Postcard showing the chimney of the Maison du Gunny in Nantes, where the Duchess of Berry, after the failure of her attempt to the west in 1832, remained hidden for five months before being betrayed by a Jew for a sum of 500,000 francs. The printed text explains that she was forced to exit with three people from a hiding place 1.5 meters wide made in the chimney, where the gendarmes came to light the fire. Back: blank postcard with space for correspondence and address, printed 'CARTE POSTALE' and 'Nantes' at the bottom left.
