Engraved portrait of Nicolas de Lareynie, Counselor to the King and Lieutenant of Police of Paris, with inscription detailing his birth in Limoges in 1625 and death in 1709. He is credited with ensuring the safety of Parisians after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and with conducting the poison trial against the Brinwilliers. The back is blank, with a crease line and multilingual inscriptions at the top.
