Description

Engraved illustration of the Virgin Mary holding the dead Christ, under the title 'Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows'. The reverse indicates that the statue, made of wood from the 16th century (1520–1550), disappeared in 1764, was found in Strasbourg in 1915, returned to the parish on August 6, 1944, and reinstalled in its sanctuary in Metzeral-Sondernach (Upper Rhine) on August 8, 1948.
