Stone statue depicting a veiled woman holding a branch, in front of a wooden building with the inscription: 'WHOEVER YOU ARE, PASSERBY, SALUTE LOWLY THE REMAINS OF THE HEROES FALLEN FOR YOUR SALVATION'. On the reverse, text indicating that the statue is a provisional monument of Douaumont, donated by Madame Berthe Girardet in memory of her missing pilot son, with a circular stamp 'OSSUAIRE DE DOUAUMONT (Meuse)' and a note of exclusive ownership by the Ossuary Committee.
