View of the Church of the Madeleine in Paris, with its Ionic column portico and sculpted pediment. Printed text on the front indicates that the first stone was laid by Louis XV on April 3, 1764. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated February 13, 1919, addressed to a 'dear good Grandmother,' mentions arrival in Paris and the waiting for a reply.
