Description

Postcard showing the Vauban monument at the Hôtel des Invalides, sculpted by Etex in 1846. The printed text recalls that the Marquis de Vauban (1633–1707), famous military engineer, was buried at the Invalides in 1808, his heart being transferred there on January 11, 1852. The reverse bears handwritten correspondence and the publisher 'Société des Amis du Musée de l'Armée'.
