View of the Basilica of La Madeleine in Paris, with inscription in French and English describing its history: begun in 1764 under Louis XV, transformed into a Roman temple in 1806 and restored in 1842. The pediment represents the Last Judgment. Reverse: handwritten correspondence addressed to Versailles.
