Description

View of the Royal Street in Paris, showing the building of the Madeleine, begun in 1764 under Louis XV by Constant d'Ivry and transformed into a Roman temple in 1866. The pediment represents the Last Judgment. Two green 5c 'French Republic' stamps are affixed. The cancellation 'PARIS XVI - PLACE' from October 16, 1917, is visible. Reverse: handwritten address to Miss Octavie Lamidilin in Châteaubriand, via Poitiers, with signature 'de Paris'.
