Monumental statue of the Lion of Belfort, a bronze copy of the original Bartholdi sculpture, erected in Paris in memory of the city's heroic defense in 1870-71. The reverse side features a handwritten letter addressed to Madame Bourcheron in Meareilly, Loire, with a postmark and cancellation from Paris dated April 9, 1948.
