View of the Panthéon in Paris, with its dome and columned façade, under a cloudy sky. The printed text at the top reads 'PARIS — The Panthéon' and an inscription above the pediment: 'TO THE GREAT MEN, THE GRATEFUL FATHERLAND'. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated August 23, 1940, sent from Paris to Madame Anne Guitard in Pernes, with two 40-centime blue stamps and a postmark 'PARIS R.P. 18-3-VIII-40'.
