Black and white view of the Church of the Madeleine in Paris, with its portico of Ionic columns and sculpted pediment. Printed text at the bottom: 'PARIS. — The Church of the Madeleine. ND. Photo.'. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated August 17, 1916, addressed to loved ones, mentioning a visit to the Madeleine and a meeting with a young woman. Red 10-centime stamp canceled '16.45' at the top right.
