View of the Prefecture building in Auxerre, former Episcopal Palace, with an inscription detailing its history: built in 1824 on the site of a chapel demolished in 1633, erected in 1258 by Guy de Mello, Bishop of Auxerre. The reverse side features a handwritten address to Marguerite Mercier in Montbéliard, a French postal cancellation of 15 April 1919, and the serial number 89.
