View of Place du Château in Provins, showing an earth-enclosed feudal well and a Gothic cross dating from the 14th century, on which proclamations and decrees of the Counts of Champagne were posted. On the reverse, a postcard published by Bourgogne, Frères, Éditeurs de Château-Thierry, addressed to Madame and Monsieur Butaward in Maisons-Alfort (Seine), with a handwritten message 'Good souvenir of holidays' signed L. Lamare.
