View of the Tower César or King's Tower in Provins, dating from the 12th century, with inscription describing its use as a detention site for state prisoners and its role during the capture of Provins by the English in 1452. The adjacent belfry presents two bays with bells, the largest of which is called 'Guillermette'. Reverse: address to Mr. and Mrs. Thierry in Paris, 25-centime blue postage stamp obliterated, sender's signature, and mention of the publisher J. Bourgogne.
