Description

Satirical illustration showing Louis XV in royal costume, surrounded by rays, receiving a bottle of coca wine from a small servant. Printed text at the bottom: 'Fortunately Mr. Mariani did not live in the grand century. His wonderful coca wine would not have extended a life and a reign already so long until the revolution. The certainty of being guillotined at Place Louis XV would have seemed to Louis XIV so absurd that he would have lost his head.' Reverse: handwritten text, mention 'POST CARD', 'COLLECTION MARIANI', and address to 'M. Madame de Chantel' in Paris. Stamp and postmark not visible.
