Description

Interior of a provisional ossuary in Verdun, decorated with garlands and flowers, with boxes bearing the inscription 'RECEVEUR S.A. SECTION D. DOUAUMONT'. Printed text recalls the national and worldwide offering for the fallen heroes. Reverse: handwritten message from the chaplain of Douaumont, sent in gratitude for the public offering, dated Christmas 1916.
