Engraved portrait of René-Just Haüy, French mineralogist born in Saint-Just in 1743 and died in Paris in 1822. Printed text summarizing his life: he attended Daubenton's lectures at the Jardin des Plantes, created crystallography, was imprisoned during the Revolution, and in 1802 took Daubenton's place at the École des Mines. Reverse: blank postcard with instructions in French on international correspondence.
