Description

Interior of the Hall of Lost Steps in Rennes, with a decorated ceiling. The printed text recalls that this hall was a temporary chapel during the inauguration of the palace in 1858, and later served for banquets for Napoleon III, Empress Eugénie in 1858, Félix Faure in 1896, and Raymond Poincaré in 1914. The entrance door, dated 1726, was restored in 1835-1836 by the sculptor Barre. The reverse has handwritten text dated May 8, 1945, addressed to family members, signed Robert.
