View of the Place de la Liberté in Sarlat-la-Canéda (Dordogne), showing stone buildings with balconies and a church with a bell tower in the background. The back has a handwritten letter dated June 30, 1940, addressed to a « Dear Mother », mentioning the presence of German troops and the expectation of going to a demobilization depot. The postmark and cancellation are visible at the bottom right.
