Description

Interior of a room in the Bellevue Castle in Sedan, decorated with dark wooden furniture, a large round painting covered with a cloth, and hunting trophies (deer, shield) on the walls. The printed text indicates that it was in this room that Napoleon III, Wilhelm, and Bismarck signed the surrender on September 2, 1870. Reverse: 4 franc postage stamp, cancellation from Pau (France) dated August 16, 1908, handwritten address to Mons, Belgium, and mention 'Correspondance' with handwritten '4€' and '68'.
