Description

12th-century gilded bronze bust, eyes in horn and ivory, crown in oak with cabochons, depicting an Auvergne priest. Printed text mentions its theft in 1907 by the Thomas brothers of Clermont and its rediscovery in a barrel. Reverse: publisher 'C° Alhiscione des Arts Phénécantiques' in Strasbourg, with partially visible postmark and cancellation.
