Description

Colorized view of a group of moss-covered oak trees identified as 'Les Pakenham's Oaks' at the bottom of the image. The back details their history: planted in 1783, they form the most beautiful living oak forest in the world, located in New Orleans, on the plains of Chalmette, where Andrew Jackson won a decisive victory against Pakenham on January 8, 1815. Handwritten French text is visible, as well as a postmark of 19053 and a cancellation.
