Statue of Honoré de Balzac in Tours, surrounded by trees and pedestrians. Printed text: 'Honoré de Balzac, born in Tours, May 16, 1799, famous writer. He died in Paris on August 30, 1850, after a life of the most laborious literary work.' Reverse: handwritten address to Madame Courjoument, with a postage stamp and postmark of 'TOURS (24) INDRE-ET-LOIRE' dated August 29, 1908.
