View of the two commemorative monuments of the Battle of Valmy on the Moon Plateau, with a statue of a soldier holding a flag and an obelisk. The reverse contains a handwritten letter dated 9 July 1917, addressed to a person in Sembouzéhéri, and another handwritten letter dated 12 May 1917, mentioning a departure for Paris and travel plans. The stamp and cancellation are visible at the bottom right.
