Description

Postcard showing the Fort de Vaux in Verdun, lost by the French on 9 June 1916 after fierce 7-night battles. The printed text relates the capture of the fort by the Germans and the message from Commander Raynal. On the reverse, a 10-centime green stamp, postmark from Marnes (Marne) dated 20–23 May 1921, and address to Mr. Roger Mangeiard in Châlons/Marne.
