View of La Porte Chaussée in Verdun, with its round towers and a bridge in the background, on the banks of a watercourse. The reverse has handwritten text dated 27/10/1919, addressed to someone in Douaumont, mentioning a visit to the monument on September 21st. A 20-centime pink stamp is affixed at the top right, with a 'VERDUN' cancellation visible.
