Description

View of the Church of the Madeleine in Vézelay, highlighting the apse and choir built between 1196 and 1206 by Abbot Girard d'Arcy, to replace the Romanesque apse burned in 1165. The choir presents a fine example of early ogival art, surrounded by 9 chapels, including that of the Virgin placed behind the large altar.
