Description

View of Vitré Castle, with its towers and ramparts, from the Rennes road. The reverse details its history: founded by Charlemagne to resist the Normans, it was rebuilt in the 12th century by the Dukes of Normandy, then captured by the English in 1589. Printed text in French, with a handwritten annotation '35'.
