The printed text recalls the invasion of the town from September 1914 to October 1918, the bombings of 1917, the civilian losses, and the awarding of the war cross in 1921. The back has a handwritten note dated March 12, 1919, describing the displacement of 50 residents to Belgium and mentioning the death of some close relatives.
