Description

View of Place du Trône in Brussels, centered on the equestrian monument of Léopold II, with a classical building in the background and shrubs in the foreground. The reverse features a handwritten letter dated June 23, 1961, addressed to friends, mentioning the warm reception from the hosts and obligations until the end of the month. Printed text at the bottom: 'Brussels — Place du Trône and Monument Léopold II, second King of the Belgians (1865-1909), he became in 1885 the Sovereign of the Independent State of the Congo, which he ceded in 1908 to Belgium.'
