View of the Abbey of the Ladies in Caen, a Romanesque building founded by Queen Mathilde in the 11th century, whose spires were destroyed during the Hundred Years' War. The reverse bears a handwritten letter, a French postage stamp of 1.30 francs, and a cancellation from Caen dated November 11, 1947. The publisher is listed as Normandy Editions LE GOUHEY.
