Description

Colorized view of the Gothic cathedral and episcopal palace of Exeter, Devon, surrounded by gardens and flowers. The reverse has a handwritten letter dated 16 July, addressed to 'Dear Barrain', mentioning a visit to Exeter and a walk to Exmouth. The printed text on the reverse describes Exeter as a Norman town founded in the 11th century and its church as a remarkable example of its era. The postmark is an Irish Republic stamp, canceled in Exeter.
